Conway is a sweet step back in time. It boasts being one of the oldest towns in South Carolina, being founded in 1734. Its historic district has beautiful oak tree-lined streets and Spanish moss draping from certain buildings and trees, creating a classically charming southern feel. Lying only 15 miles west of Myrtle Beach, it’s a lovely place to live with easy access to larger areas nearby.

Home to about 25,000 folks, Conway is best enjoyed on foot. Many of the attractions mentioned here are in its downtown area, within a few blocks.

Conway’s architecture is one of its greatest attractions. Its downtown area is an impressive display of historic architecture, housing artisans, uncommon boutiques, and a talented art community. One of the must-sees here is the Ocean Fish Market. In addition to being one of the most scenic buildings in Conway, it’s also a great place to pick up freshly caught fish from the coast. Another hot spot is the Theatre of the Republic, a historic live performance venue that offers shows year-round.

An activity and social gathering place both visitors and residents enjoy about Conway is its Riverwalk, set alongside the Waccamaw River. More amenities include incredible restaurants, an impressive aquarium, and seasonal events such as the Conway Ghost Walk and annual Riverfest.
