WMBF reported that Myrtle Beach cracked the top ten of a list of the best small cities in America:
"Resonance Consultancy, an advisor in real estate, tourism and economic development of counties, cities, and communities, announced America’s Best Small Cities in 2020, a ranking of the top-performing small cities with metro populations ranging between 100,000 and 500,000, a press release stated."
The Resonance Consultancy released their list on BestCities.org, where they broke down each city and why they are considered among the best in the country. Towns from neighboring North Carolina and Georgia also cracked the top ten. Other cities included Anchorage, Reno, Ann Arbor, Naples, Santa Fe, Boulder, and Trenton. Resonance Consultancy cites Myrtle Beach attractions and business climate as some of the reasons Myrtle Beach ranked number 9. They said:
"With so much to see and do, it’s no wonder that the city tops our Attractions subcategory for small cities. The climate for business is even better. Myrtle Beach is one of the fastest-growing small cities in the country; already home to 25 international companies, it’s in the Top 10 for foreign direct investment. The business community lauds the location as central, and the Myrtle Beach International Airport (the city ranks #18 for Connectivity) is working to further position the city as an East Coast hub."
If you are thinking about buying or building a house on the coast, whether as a permanent residence, vacation location, or retirement dream home, here is our breakdown of why you should put Myrtle Beach at the top of your list:
Myrtle Beach is Your Best Choice for Your Next Home
1) White Sand Beaches
There is a lot to love about Myrtle Beach but look no further than the beautiful beaches to fall in love with the area. The brilliantly white sand and Atlantic Ocean are what initially helped turn sleepy northeastern South Carolina into one of the hottest tourist destinations in the South. Does that mean the beaches are overcrowded? Not at all, there is plenty of beach for all to enjoy.
2) Second-to-None Golf Scene
Golf is without a doubt one of the most important pastimes in our area. With several famous golf clubs and courses and thousands of golfers visiting every year, it truly is a paradise for those that enjoy hitting the links.
3) The Grand Strand
Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand has the kind of entertainment you would expect from a city like New York or Los Angeles. There are more restaurants than you could visit in a lifetime, mind-bending entertainment, and multiple places you can catch dinner and a show.
4) Surprisingly Quiet Communities
Is it all hustle and bustle in Myrtle Beach? Not at all. There are surprisingly quiet communities that allow you to escape the crowds at home, while still being close to the beach and to the action. RealStar Homes has communities in Little River, Conway, Socastee, Murrells Inlet, and North Myrtle that allow you a peaceful place to rest just minutes from the ocean and the Grand Strand.
Golf is not the only outdoor hobby Myrtle Beach residents and vacationers enjoy. There are plenty of options for many other recreational hobbies, including:
- Disc Golf Courses
- Cycling and Mountain Biking
- Jogging trails
- Surfing, Wind Surfing, and Paddle Boarding
- Indoor Rock-Climbing Gyms
- Fresh Water, Saltwater, and Deep Sea Fishing
- Wildlife Viewing
- So much more
